Bio
Prof. Norbert Kersting is holding the chair for Comparative Politics. Local and regional governance at the Department of Political Science at the University of Muenster (Germany). From 2006 to 2011 he was holding the “Willy Brandt Chair on transformation and regional integration” at the Department of Political Science, University of Stellenbosch. He was a fellow at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Marburg. He was visiting Professor at the University of Koblenz-Landau and the University of Kassel. He was acting chair of International Political Science Association’s (IPSA) Research Committee 10 on „Electronic democracy” and of the Research Committee 5 on „Comparative Studies on Local Government and Politics”.
He has co-edited books on “Poverty and democracy. ”(London: Zed), “Local Government reform in Europe” (Wiesbaden: VS), “Electronic voting and democracy”(London: Palgrave), “Democratization and political culture in comparative perspective” (Wiesbaden: VS) etc.. His research focuses on comparative political science and on modern instruments to promote online - and offline participation, local politics, elections, parliamentarism and e-democracy (Norbert.Kersting@uni-muenster.de).
